I loved Halloween as a kid and when our daughter was young, it was so much fun to make special treats for all her friends and classmates that would come knocking. These past few years, we don't see many little ghosts and goblins, but I still love to make one of my favorite treats....caramel apples. Most of them get gobbled up by our adult friends these days.
Wash a bunch of small apples, dry them well and insert a popsicle/craft sticks into each one. Unwrap caramels and put into a microwave-safe bowl.
Melt the caramels in a microwave-safe bowl, then dip each apple in the melted caramels and then roll in the broken bar mixture or crushed peanuts. Place the apples on parchment paper until set..........
After they are set well, you can wrap each apple in plastic wrap and tie with ribbon or string to use as special treats.
There are tons of online tutorials, if you get the urge to make some. I tried a small batch this morning and dipped them in crushed Crispy Crunch bars. These are so delicious, try some for yourself!!
Cheers
;o)
Those look amazing. Crispy Crunch is my favourite candy bar. When I get a blizzard at Dairy Queen it is usually the crispy crunch one. Halloween has definately changed over the years, most of the malls hand out candy or the downtown stores and parents are so leary of letting their little ones go to strange houses. You don't see many homemade costumes either that myself and my daughter used to wear.
