Lassy Buns

This is a recipe that I have been using for many years....a simple, traditional, old-fashioned molasses  bun.....affectionately known in Newfoundland and Labrador as "Lassy Buns"

Here's the recipe.....

                Molasses Buns

1 cup molasses        1 cup melted butter
1/2 cup milk            4 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar              2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp cloves             2 tsp baking soda
1 egg                       pinch of salt

Combine melted butter and molasses and stir, then add milk and egg. Mix in remaining ingredients, then roll out on a floured surface, to a 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut into desired shapes and place on a greased cookie sheet.  bake at 350* F for 15-20 minutes.  Turn out on a wire rack and cool completely.

Here are a few photos of how mine looked....

These buns are simple to make and smell glorious when baking.
Let me know if you try this recipe, I'd love to know how it turns out!

Cheers
