Majestic May Night Sky

Last night was just glorious.  The temperature was in the high teens and the sunset was amazing.  We were sitting on our back deck and I just had to go inside and grab my camera.

Here's what I got.......

Hoping for many more nights like that in the upcoming months of summer.

Things are done slightly different these days......

On a walk a few evenings ago, I caught a glimpse of these old pieces of farming equipment.....

Although I realize that farming of any kind is hard work, it made me think that things
sure have come a long, long way.

Stiles Cove Path on the East Coast Trail

I live in the beautiful town of Flatrock, that has the East Coast Trail running right through it.
I have only hiked a few very small portions of the trail, but we have plans to change that
this summer and fall.

Yesterday evening, we checked out the entry to Stiles Cove Path, and were not disappointed.
Here's a peek---these photos are in the order that they were taken
entering the trail and then heading back.

The trail sign, with Atlantic Ocean in background....
Lots of very rustic, but sturdy, steps to get you over the rocky parts of the trail....

The view is so beautiful, and you must be very careful where you are treading

The bridge over the falls near the top of the trail is awesome....

This is one of the sets of steps carved into the cliff on this trail.....
Here's the view of the ocean from that bridge near the top....
A beautiful view on the way back down to the base of the trail....
 and another.....
 Heading back toward Flatrock....
Hope you enjoyed this part of the East Coast Trail.

Cheers

Lunch at Coffee Matters

What a beautiful sunny Sunday!!
12 degrees Celsius and sunshine gets me on the move.
After a little laundry and the normal routine stuff, hubby and I headed in to
the city to take a walk on the waterfront.
I also wanted to take some harbor photos for a blog post.

As we were driving toward the downtown area, we laughed when we caught sight of
the thick blanket of fog hovering over the harbor area.

We found a spot to park and hopped out.  There was a very noticeable difference in the temperature between downtown as it compared to our yard in Flatrock.
We strolled for awhile along the old streets in the downtown area.
By now it was well past lunchtime,
so we decided to walk up to Coffee Matters on Military Road.

I just love this place.  I have never been disappointed there.
The food, service and the atmosphere is just so awesome.
If you ever get a chance to stop by and check it out, do so--you will be very happy that you did.

We shared a lunch combo, which consisted of a Ham and Pear Chutney Croissant with a bowl of
squash and bacon soup..........

and a delicious oatmeal raisin cookie.......

Of course, we had coffee too---Yummmmmm!

We did get a little walk, and we enjoyed a scrumptious lunch.
Hope you all had a great Sunday, and I wish you all a good week!

Cheers

Spring is in the air........maybe

The fact that we had record-breaking temperatures on Mother's Day, and this.........

gives me hope that spring is here.....

With the North Atlantic Ocean lapping at our feet.....

We get to see a little fog pretty often.  I find it quite beautiful, as it rolls in.....

I find it amazing that it can be so bright and sunny in one area, and just a kilometer
or so away, the fog just seems to hover like an umbrella over another area.

It can roll in, and roll back out in minutes.
It is so pretty when you are at a higher elevation and can see the landscape below
and above the patch of fog.

Until today, as I was preparing this post, I did not know that an area of Newfoundland ranked
#1 on the list of "Five Foggiest Places in North America"!
That's right, click here to find out exactly what part of Newfoundland captured the title.

Amazing stuff, that magical, mystical fog.
