Yesterday morning was beautiful....sunny, but a bit cool at 10 degrees Celsius. Olive and I went for a ride, and got caught in a vicious downpour of rain. I came home and had to strip off my wet clothes right in the laundry room. Thankfully it wasn't too cold at that time. That changed however, and cold it got as the day and night wore on. We had minus 3 Celsius overnight with snow (yes SNOW) flurries.
So...needless to say, I spent the remainder of Monday indoors. I baked some raisin buns........
Here's my recipe:
Raisin Buns
4 cups flour
1 egg
4 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup margarine (or butter)
3/4 cup raisins
Rub together by hand all eight ingredients, then add enough fresh
milk to make a soft dough.
Roll out on a floured surfaced and cut into desired shapes.
Bake at 350* for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.
After that, I spent most of the afternoon experimenting with some wine glass painting. Which one do you like best??

Cheers all.....Backyard Gazebo construction starts tomorrow...if it's not snowing! Ha ha
The buns look pretty good - I might try those later in the week. Your wine glasses are great too, I like the dragonfly, the pink lipstick and the flipflops, with 'Hot Lips' coming first as it is simple and elegant.
ReplyDeleteThose buns are so easy and you can sub the raisins with many other dried fruit or chocolate chips. I have also made the same recipe with no fruit, but a cup of shredded coconut--they are delicious as well. Let me know how yours turn out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on the glasses. The lips seem to be a big hit. I've painted one of those for most of my girlfriends. I usually do a glass and give it with a bottle of wine for birthdays---great gifts!
I'm gonna pass on the raisin buns...since i'm flour free in my eating of late. Normally I would eat the heck out of them. But I love love love the flip flop, and the black bikini glasses...Kathleen they are so darn adorable! You need to open a store and sell them...
ReplyDeleteI baked these for a friend. I don't keep it around my kitchen though---temptation is too great.
DeleteThat is the one thing that I miss since I changed my eating habits over two years ago----the baking. I love to bake.
Thanks on the glasses----I really enjoy painting those---it is a quick reward---only an hour or so and you have a finished product
i love the little black dress :)
ReplyDeletelove the dragonfly!
