Ice, Ice, Everywhere!

We are right in the midst of some nasty spring weather here.  We have had steady
freezing rain for most of the past 24 hours, and the weatherman says it'll go on
overnight with high winds.

On my drive home from work today, I was amazed at how beautiful everything
 looked, covered in ice.
I grabbed my camera and headed back out to get a few shots.

Here is one of the side roads that I pass each day.
It makes me imagine a beautiful log cabin in beyond the trees, with a fire
burning in an old wood stove, and the smell of strong coffee in the air.

This fenced area gets me every time I drive by, no matter what time of year, but today
it was breathtaking!

I hope the temperature rises soon, or the rain stops.
If this goes on much longer, the freezing rain may cause damage to the trees,
and possibly put some power lines down.

Have a great weekend, all!

  1. How beautiful! Great photos, Kathleen. I hope you don't lose power tonight.

  2. Me too--it's pretty windy out there now, but we are prepared, if we do!! :)

  3. You have made hay while the sun shines, so to speak in metaphorical terms. Nice photos. Hope spring really comes soo for both you and us.

  4. Whau, beautiful!!! We had several of the trees broken with similar storm this year. I have published the granola recipe in my post with the granola photos. Hope you get it Kathleen. Have a wonderful week!!
