Small Icebergs in at Flatrock

I hope I am not boring you with so many posts about ice, but there's lots of it here....so I'll share!
I went for my evening walk out toward the ocean, and was surprised to see that all
of the sea ice that was packed in tight to the shore yesterday, had moved off, leaving
some lovely little bergs behind.

It was too pretty not to shoot, so I called hubby,
to drive over with my camera before the darkness came.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.......

After the ice storm

After steady freezing rain and drizzle since Thursday, Hubby and I dreaded to
go outside to assess the trees.
Much to our surprise, it looks like Mother Nature just did a bit of "pruning" for us.
Thank goodness, it was not near as bad as we expected!

Thankfully, it has warmed up and the rain has stopped.  Iit is up to 1* C now, so hopefully
most of the ice will drop off before the evening cool.
The ice dropping off of the trees is almost deafening out in the yard now, but a
very welcome sound all the same!

We have sun in the forecast for the coming week and warmer temperatures....
maybe spring is coming!!!!

Have a great week.

Cheers

Ice, Ice, Everywhere!

We are right in the midst of some nasty spring weather here.  We have had steady
freezing rain for most of the past 24 hours, and the weatherman says it'll go on
overnight with high winds.

On my drive home from work today, I was amazed at how beautiful everything
 looked, covered in ice.
I grabbed my camera and headed back out to get a few shots.

Here is one of the side roads that I pass each day.
It makes me imagine a beautiful log cabin in beyond the trees, with a fire
burning in an old wood stove, and the smell of strong coffee in the air.

This fenced area gets me every time I drive by, no matter what time of year, but today
it was breathtaking!

I hope the temperature rises soon, or the rain stops.
If this goes on much longer, the freezing rain may cause damage to the trees,
and possibly put some power lines down.

Have a great weekend, all!
Cheers

Pretty Pouch Cove

Hubby and I couldn't resist a early morning stroll around Pouch Cove on Easter Sunday morning.
We were having family over for the Easter feast around 4, so we grabbed the
chance to get outside and enjoy some sunshine.

Pouch Cove is about 10 kilometers east of where we live, and it is literally right
on the edge of ocean....nothing east of there.

Take a look........

There is always somewhere spectacular to walk...only minutes from our house.
We'll never get tired of the awesome scenery around here.

Cheers

Sea Ice in at Flatrock

The thunderous roar of a big sea is frightening,
but to see and hear huge chunks of ice crashing against ice....

As far as the eye can see....

A thick carpet of uneven, jagged ice brought ashore by the winds.

Mother Nature is certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Here in Newfoundland and Labrador, we seem to be stuck in the never-ending winter!!

Hopefully spring is right around the corner.
Cheers
